What we know so far abt the historical Mohammed certainly doesn't give reason for depictions. Furthermore, I'm not a Christian but as I see it Jesus, as a possible historical person/s just like Mohammed, cannot be protected from scrutinity just because they also exist in individuals minds as perceptions of a "model for human perfection". And the same applies to Christianity and Islam. And by the way, isn't an Islamic suicide-bomber often said to be a "model for human perfection" and therefore rewarded in paradise?
When the Christian house of cards eventually fell in the 19th century Europe it was precisely because of scrutinity and criticism! As a consequence European universities are now filled with lectures ridiculing what is considered stupid Christian bourgeois ideals and ideas abt "human perfection". Neither back then nor now has anyone cared abt the "feelings" of the deeply Christian and ignorant part of population that was slow to adopt the new "world order".

To protect Islam and Mohammed from scrutinity and criticism is to protect bin Laden's gang & oil-dictator Abullah & Co as well as to unnecessarily prolong suffering under a dogma!
Those who complain abt security measures against Islam and due lack of freedom, should keep in mind that Islam itself would mean substantially more of the same. And precisely as Islam in general hinders true meeting with non-Muslims, Islam also hinders/prolonges the inevitable process of globalization of freedom and democracy! And self-appointed "third world representatives" do their utmost to encourage racism, hatred and conspiracy theories combined with theoretical frameworks that seem far more accurate if applied to pan-Arabic Islam.
Time to loosen up and abandon Islam altogether? No one knows what Islam really stands for and who's in charge. No wonder, Islam is nothing but a (dangerous) tool for pan-Arabism and oil-imperialism spread by Abdullah & Co by using whatever means, incl. confused youth and lunatics. A culture that has little to offer the world. And those poor "anti-Westerners" who uncritically submit to these oil-billionaires' fanaticism, just worsen it not only for themselves but also for everyone else. A question. We have growing political & financial Islam etc forms of secularization, so isn't it time now for a slight de-holying of other parts of Islam as well, for a better fit to the rest of the world!
